What is Sound Absorption?

Sound absorption refers to a material’s ability to stop reflection of sound and echoing by converting the sound energy to heat. The greater the absorption, the lower the echo/ shorter the reverb time. Sound absorption is measured on a rating from 0 to 1.0, with the highest absorption being 1.0.

Sound insulation refers to how much sound is restricted from entering the room from the outside, while absorption refers to how much sound a material converts to heat, reducing the echo within a room.
